    Description

NO RESERVE. We're offering here a beautifully detailed 1/700 scale LCT(6) model that has just come out of the 3D printer. The Mark 6 Landing Craft Tank was an improvement on the Mk 5 LCT's with the same engines but it was slightly longer and incorporated accommodations for the crew. The Mk 6 was able to deliver five 30-ton, four 40-ton, three 50-ton tanks, 9 trucks or 150 tons of cargo right to the beachhead and in emergencies could serve as a floating bridge for unloading LST's because of the addition of the stern gate unique to this design. The 284 ton Mk.6's were typically shipped to combat areas on the flat deck of an LST but there were some instances where they actually made island hopping voyages under their own power. No less than 960 of these mighty little craft were built between 1943 and 1944 and they served with distinction in both the U.S. Navy and Royal Navy. A number of these continued in service with the U.S. Navy in both Korea and Viet Nam.
An excellent LCT(6) was offered as a resin kit by Loose Cannon Productions but these aren't always easy to find and assembly can be challenging for those with insufficient experience. We believe that the 3D printed model offered here compares very favorably with the Loose Cannon model and it doesn't require any assembly. About the only quibble is that the two 20mm Oerlikon
guns are too thick but they can be easily removed and replaced with stretched sprue and/or PE parts to create a stunningly accurate representation. We've posted high resolution photos so you can judge for yourself. Note that we've included some of Pit-Road's injection molded and white metal tanks and trucks (NOT INCLUDED!) to simulate typical loads and as additional scale references. Note the 1" yellow squares on the table surface are included for scale reference in photo #11. These landing craft appeared in a wide variety of highly interesting camouflage schemes, particularly those used in the Pacific.
The surfaces are not perfectly smooth (3D printing is done in layers) but the plastic used can be sanded and painted much the same way you would handle resin or styrene. The models may still have some powder and oil-like agent on them that can be removed by washing in warm water with a drop of detergent added to it.
    This beautiful
LCT(6) model should be a welcome addition to any WW2 wargamer's or 1/700 modeler's collection, particularly this interested in Allied amphibious operations. Please also take a look at the other 1/700 scale landing craft and aircraft models that we have on auction as well. We're always happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases to save whenever possible. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions whatsoever.
