Dormancy Period
Many deciduous shrubs, including rose of Sharon, go into a dormancy period from late fall through early spring. During this period, the plants shed their leaves and experience little or no growth. The best time to replant a rose of Sharon is when it is dormant. By moving the shrub when it is not in an active growing phase, it will adapt more easily to the new environment. The cool weather of late fall through spring also reduces stress and minimizes transplant shock.
