    Description

    An interesting letter from Confederate soldier, B.F. White to his parents in Garden Valley, Texas.  The letter is from 1862 and he was stationed at Hempstead County, Arkansas.  It is guaranteed original and says in part:
    You can tell Mr Lindsey that I saw Bart day before yesterday.  We are camped about 20 miles apart, he was well and doing well…Two men deserted from our regiment.  They are not from our company.  They have good horses and one night start of the man that is after them.  I don’t know whether they will catch them or not, if they do, I expect that they will be killed.  I suppose the colonel told the men when they started after them, to not bring them back, but kill them wherever they caught them.  We have had a tolerable ruff time since we started…
