    Description

    1863 autograph note of Lawrence Pike Graham as brigadier general.  Pike (1815-1877) served in the Seminole and Mexican wars, and was appointed brigadier general in August 1861, primarily with administrative service though with some field service during the Peninsular campaign; he became a Shakesperean scholar after the war and is buried at Arlington National Cemetary.  Document is addressed to the adjutant general of the US army and refers to an enclosure of a certificate of his health.  Couple folds; mounted to album page at left
