Description
1863 special requisition form for the ambulance train for the 1st division, 3rd coprs, with long list of various articles. Approved at lower left by D.P. Birney (1825-1864), a union major general (who was promoted to that position after Chancellorsville) who started the war as Lt. Col. in the 23rd PA. He died of disease, likely typhoid fever, after becoming ill at Petersburg. Numerous other signatures and text at bottom to figure out; item with a few folds and mounted to album page.This material comes from the Civil War autograph, manuscript and document collection formed by Frederick Peck and is guaranteed original and genuine.
