    Jan. 30, 1864 Civil War letter written by Union soldier Francis Lewis who served in Co. G 32nd Ohio Infantry. It reads in part:"we are just on the eve of starting on an expedition to Jackson Miss.......Co. G or a part of them have been very fortunate again 31 of us (all veterans) have been permanently detailed to go as guard for the division train.......we may stop at Jackson and go no further but we are not at all certain about that. The 16th corps and a part of ours (the 17th) will compose the expedition. We are drawing a little money today. They are paying the veterans in our regiment part of their bounty.
