    Description

1864 letter signed by Walter Whitaker (1823-1887), a civil war Union general.  Whitaker served in the Mexican War, and was appointed as colonel of the 6th Kentucky in Decmeber 1861.  He was promoted to brigadier in 1863 and wounded several times.  He received a postwar brevet as major general and returned to the practice of law.  Letter is tough to read but I see reference to photographs, etc.
This material comes from the Civil War autograph, manuscript and document collection formed by Frederick Peck and is guaranteed original and genuine.  Bid with confidence as I will stand 100% behind each item.
