Description
1888 letter signed by Henry M. Cist as corresponding secretary of the Society of the Army of the Cumberland. Cist (1839-1902) started the civil war as a private in the 6th Ohio, subsequently serving as an officer in the 74th Ohio and assistant adjutant genreal for Rosecrans and Thomas. He received a postwar brevet to brigadier general. Postwar, he was a lawyer in Cincinnati and served a lengthy period as corresponding secretary for the Society, also becoming an author and biographer of civil war figures. Letter relates to society matters and is mounted at top to album page.This material comes from the Civil War autograph, manuscript and document collection formed by Frederick Peck and is guaranteed original and genuine.
