1953 CUSTOM PRECISION RC WATER BRAKE DYNAMOMETER A M E SHOP DETROIT MICHIGAN

Description

This finely executed precision built dynamometer was specifically built for testing race boat RC engines and boat motors.
Fine details include (all of aluminum, brass and steel construction) with engine flange mount design for RC engines with coupling to reducing gear box with external 1" diameter flywheel, 90 degree output shaft to main water break assembly 7" diameter RPM gauge reading 0-25 in thousands. Upper gauge with crescent scale reading 0-12 for what is assumed measurement of power output against fluid resistance. Main dynamometer section with 5 1/2" diameter case supported on twin heavy ball bearing frames [NOTE: outer section swivels approx 10 degrees with linkage to output aforementioned power gauge with many other fine details too numerous to mention. We have been told that the provenance of this incredible device could be attributed to Keith Baker and/or Beam Model Engine shop. If anyone has any information on the B.M.E. Shop, your input would be much appreciated.
