    Description

This is a set of 4 antique Burma-Shave road side signs from 1937, and a paperback
book "Burma-Shave The Rhymes, the Signs, the Times" by Bill Vossler printed in 1998.
The signs are the original yellow with black printing on both sides and are 40"x 11".
The complete jingle was " Fingers were made/ Before Brushes-- / Use 'Em / They're
    Much Safer/ You Can't Lose 'Em/ Burma-Shave".  This is Verse # 504 from 1937.
They all have various signs of wear and deterioration, some splintered and broken edges,
faded and damaged paint, as would be expected from panels of this age.
There is a bent nail in the corner of the "Use 'Em" sign. The "Burma- Shave" sign has
2 splits from each end extending 1/2- 2/3 of the length of the sign and is held together
with several staples. The staples are visible on only 1 side.
The photos are in chronological order, with the "Burma-Shave" sides immediately following
    the jingle line.
The book is a lively history of Burma-Shave, the company beginnings, the jingles, the times
and the eventual decline.  It contains all 556 verses and some nostalgic photos. The book is
    in excellent condition.
The signs have been stored in wrapping for many years in a climate controlled, non-smoking
home.  I have many more photos but was limited in number I could list.  Please feel free to
contact me for more photos or any questions.
