Description
Antique 19th Century Boxwood Clarinet. This early wooden clarinet is about 19 inches long. The bottom piece is 10 in. and the top piece (not including the part that fits into the bottom piece) is 9” with the mouthpiece. There are wooden reeds. I’m not sure of their age. There is dried up horsetail (Equisetum species) in the bottom of the box! I wasn’t sure if that had a purpose or not. There is a mouthpiece with a lined design. And another wooden piece; I’m not sure if it’s purpose. The top part fits loosely, so I think the thread in the box is for wrapping the threaded bottom part of the top piece before connecting to the bottom piece. I don’t see a brand on this early clarinet. There are no cracks or chips on any portion of the pieces.
