An estate found
late nineteenth century ladies 9K yellow gold ring with a bezel-set carved intaglio onyx Minerva head
(or Mercury head?), offered with no reserve and a low opening bid!
The ring is an approximate size 7.75 (it sits slightly atop the 7.75 mark on the ring mandrel) and has a weight of 2.5 grams. The face of the ring measures 7/16” high x 5/16” wide (including the gold border).
It’s unmarked but has been tested (by us) and is guaranteed to be solid
9K
. The sides of the ring are pierced with openwork elements flanking the mounting and tiny open circles where it meets the band.
Excellent condition:
although this is a pre-owned antique ring it appears to have been worn very little, very sparingly. The intaglio is clean & crisp, the patina of the gold is shiny.
