    Description

    This is an antique 15" bisque boy doll from Yamato. The head is bisque and the body is composition. He is jointed at the head, shoulders, and hips. He has sleep eyes with painted upper and lower eyelashes, circular threaded paperweight eyes, and an open mouth with a tongue and 2 teeth. The composition is a bit lumpy and not as smooth as we are used to seeing in the antique German and French dolls. He is in very good condition, with a minimum of cracking and flaking, some around the left hip joint, upper back of neck, right side of neck, and the worst spot is at the top of the right shoulder. In fact, a chunk of the composition had come off, but I have the piece in an envelope, so you can reglue it or repair it. This is a very old doll, probably made somewhere between 1900 and 1920. His face paint is excellent, and his head is painted with very, very fine light brown strands of hair. Great coloring!! Really nice details in the toes and ankles. You don't see too many of these. I have been selling dolls on Ebay since 1997 and this is only the second one I have seen. He is marked on the back of his head: large "Y" in florid script, a long number, NIPPON, and #504. NO stains or odors. And, FREE SHIPPING!!
