    Description

This listing is for a real photo card of "Asbury Grove Stable" located in Asbury Grove, Massachusetts--a part of the town of Hamilton. The card is postmarked "Asbury Grove, Mass" July 12, 1910. Asbury Grove was a Methodist Church camp established in 1851 during the "Camp Meeting" religious movement, 16 years after the more famous "Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Assocation" in what is now the town of Oak Bluffs, MA. It flourished well into the early 20th century. Today the 83 acre grounds are maintained by the Asbury Camp Meeting Association, with 100 of the original 19th century cottages still standing.
