General care:
There are not any hot/warm growing Barkeria species – Barkeria palmeri is fortunately one of them, with absolutely stunning blooms. These are all BS seedlings that previously bloomed. Barkeria plants go through yearly cycle and are deciduous – they will lose leaves in late fall/winter and will go dormant with new growths starting in the spring. Follow proper care, water and fertilize regularly during active growing season but Barkeria plants MUST dry completely between waterings, so they should be potted in very light well drained loose mix or mounted with very little of moss or coconut husk. Grows best under hot to intermediate conditions, in bright light, good air movement and good humidity drying out between waterings – during dormancy only light mist to keep canes from shriveling. Can be grown potted or mounted. Great plant for indoor growing on windowsills or greenhouses and outdoors in proper zones.
