An interior mirrored hinged lid covers the rouge well, with a paper protected, unused and embossed "Mayfair Evans" rouge. The open powder well has loose powder remnants, a puff, and net. The powder bag of gold tone mesh has had several links professionally rejoined to the base. The floral repousse edge frames a central green tinted, multi toned enamel medallion of a tree shaded bower two grand ladies and a minstrel. There is pin headed pit at one ladies foot, maybe a factory flaw. This is an unusual compact and the first I have seen with an intact embossed rouge. It is in very good vintage condition. c. 1920.
