Offering a Civil War Era Document with envelope Appointing Surgeon Lincoln R. Stone to the Mass. Zouave Company A 7th Regiment.
Size is 9¾" x 7¾", Letterhead is "Commonwealth Of Massachusetts Executive Department Council Chamber Dated April 22nd 1861" with envelope. Letter is address to Brig. Gen'l Butler stating Citizens of Salem have appointed Dr. Lincoln R. Stone to be assigned to the above Regiment. Letter also mentions Capt. Devereux (have enclosed copy of image & short history). Signature on the letter is difficult to read. Letter was found in the enclosed envelope so leaving as found.
Box was in attic with letter to and from Dr. Lincoln Stone pre-war, Civil War and Post War. Believe General is Benjamin Butler.
