    Description

    Huge group of Civil War documents from 1st Massachusetts & 57th Massachusetts Infantry regiments. Three of these relate to Colonel N.B. McLaughlen, commander of both regiments and later brevet brigadier general commanding brigade at Petersburg 1864-65, captured during Confederate assault on Fort Stedman; one is addressed to him by a sergeant, and two bear his signature. Another document relates to Sergeant James Doherty's transfer from the 1st Massachusetts to the 57th Massachusetts. Doherty was mortally wounded during the battle of Fort Stedman.
    An excellent collection of documents, 14 in total, along with a period CDV of McLaughlen. Winning bidder will receive 4 books, "The Civil War diaries of Sgt. Harrison Whitmore", "The Mutiny at Brandy Station", "Richmond Redeemed", and "Mother, May You Never See the Sights I Have Seen", all of which relate to McLaughlen and both regiments.
