French 20 Rose Cut DIAMOND Antique 18k Gold Ring Toi et Moi Cluster Floral Nouvo

ABOUT:
Super sparkling French antique toi et moi 2 cluster ring reminiscent of 2 flowers set with rose cut diamonds, set on the side of the curved band to give it the appearance of a bypass band.  Each cluster holds 9 diamonds, a larger one on in the center that is raised up with larger prongs, and 8 around the outside.  There are also two additional raised diamonds to the side of the flowers so 20 diamonds in total.
Antique piece from the Belle Epoque period that I acquired in France.   Hallmarks have worn but the dealer I bought it from told me it is 18k gold, and it tested at that for me as well.  It has a nice, sturdy band and quality hand feel.  The prongs are a contrasting white to the warm rosy gold band, so I believe the stones are set in silver as was customary during the time to set the stones in a harder, more durable material.
The tradition of giving two stone or "toi et moi" rings to represent the love between two people dates back centuries, but the style was brought to the attention of a wider audience when Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Joséphine de Beauharnais with one.  Other famous rings include the toi et moi given to Jacqueline Onassis by John F Kennedy in 1953, but the popularity of this two-part style of ring was at its peak during the Edwardian and Belle Époque periods.
Rare and very attention grabbing, beautiful piece with the old cut diamonds that really catch the light, the perfect solitaire, cocktail or right hand ring or very romantic gift.
Antique box not included, it will come in a modern box.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Currently a size 7 1/4.  It weighs 5.5 grams.  The largest diamonds in the center of each cluster are about 3mm, and each of the two floral clusters is about 10mm in diameter and stands 6mm off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Age appropriate wear for this estate piece. Under magnification I see a few nicks to some of the diamonds, unless that was just how they were cut as it was by hand in the old rougher cut methods.  Some inclusions in the diamonds which is also customary but they are all a bright clear color, I don't see any yellow or champagne hues.
Like all antique jewelry, please handle these rings with care.  All the diamonds are secure, but I just always recommend gentle wear on these very old pieces. : )
