    ABOUT:
Beautiful old garnet ring in 8k rosy gold with deep orangish red garnet set in a bezel set gypsy / buttercup mount setting with wide band.  Such a lovely piece from the Victorian / Jugendstil / Art Nouveau period.  The stone cut is interesting in that the top is flat cut with a few small facets around the outside edge, and the underside of the stone is rose cut.
It was clearly worn and loved but it is still a Beautiful ring, and would make a great antique gift as well.  The inside back half of the band was fortified in silver, probably because it had worn very thin.  This is not visible when wearing the piece as the exterior is all gold.
This is an antique piece that I acquired in Europe, as such it is marked 333 to signify 8k gold, which is the gold standard there. While it is a lower carat, it is real gold, not gold filled or gold plated so it won't flake away or show underlying metal over time like antique gold fill would.  Tested accurately as garnet on my Presidium gem tester.
    SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 9.   The garnet is about 4mm in diameter.
    HALLMARKS:
    Marked 333 for 8k gold.
    IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This estate piece was used and enjoyed by its previous owner.  Some nicks and chips to the back of the stone, none to the top side, which is still flat.  It has some scratches under magnification but nothing visible to the naked eye.  Inside of the band had thinned and the back half was fortified with silver.  It looks like the bezel may have also been fortified to secure the stone as it is silver in color in some light and you can see a slight lip to it.
Some surface wear and scratches to the gold from wear over the years.  It presents nicely but due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item.
Like all antique jewelry, please handle these rings with care.  I don't see any issues, but I just always recommend gentle wear on these very old pieces. : )
