Up for bidding is an unique and wonderful vintage popup advent calendar. This calendar was made in Denmark, and is from the 1960s. It comes from the collection of a family who purchased neat international advent calendars for their children every year. This popup calendar measures about 13" tall and about 15" wide. It has the traditional little windows for each day of the calendar. It folds out to create a beautiful scene of Santa conducting a church choir made up of adorable angel children. There is a pull tab that adds a moving element to the front scene. The retro art style and bright colors make this a marvelous Christmas display piece. It is a little tricky to set it up just right, but you carefully fold the right pieces under and in to pop it up. It has a hole at the top for hanging, so it can be displayed once assembled.
This vintage popup is in used condition, with some wear, bent corners, creases, and rubs to the graphics. The right side is curled in a little bit and doesn't lie straight. The top left corner has creases, and one of the little day doors has come off and is loose. Some of the other little doors have creases and wear from use. There are some small marks and spots on the paper, mostly in the blue background. There are some marks and spots and creases on the back side, and on the internal parts of the structure, which do not show from the front when the piece is displayed. There are some twists and creases on the "behind the scenes" folded cardboard pieces, which do not show when displayed correctly. Although this piece shows some wear and flaws from age, it still looks great. It has such a cute and unique retro style! It would look fantastic on display.
