    Description

    Cananga odorata
    , known as the cananga tree, is a tropical tree that is native from India, through parts of Indochina, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, to Queensland, Australia. The flowers are extremely sweet smelling and can perfume a large area around the tree especially in the early evening and morning. It is a relatively fast-growing tree. The tree is tropical and does not like temperatures below freezing. It is valued for the perfume extracted from its flowers, called ylang-ylang, which is an essential oil used in aromatherapy.
