This listing is for a 15 g sample of Zirconium (Zircalloy) metal in the form of a nuclear inner fuel rod tube and a solid end cap.
The tubes with end cap measure approximately 3.5" long, 13/32” in diameter and weight approximately 4 oz.
/ 15 g each.
The tubes are hollow as can be seen from the photos.
You will receive one with each purchase.
Length and weight will vary slightly from tube to tube.
These tubes are a rare sample of Zirconium (Zircalloy) and are made of extremely pure Zr (no detectable Hafnium).
Nuclear grade Zirconium also known as Zircalloy, must be almost completely free of Hf.
Hf. has a neutron cross-absorption of 600xthat of Zr.
This was made by a Connecticut U.S.A. government contractor in the 1980s and rejected by Quality Control but has all the components of the finished product.
